Not only that, but I had a attracted a strong following of pregnant ladies in my gym classes who had seen me doing it for real and wanted my guidance. And so Mammas Fitness was born!
Since then I have had a second beautiful daughter and built a fitness studio within my home. Having our own studio ensures that we can offer private and flexible classes and personal training sessions at the same time as offering everything that a Mum needs to be able to exercise with their baby in tow - changing facilities, the chance to feed before or after a class and plenty of toys to keep them occupied.
All of our fitness sessions are fun, energetic and also interesting and our priority is ensuring that each and every Mum is working to their level of fitness, at their own pace and is happy and comfortable but of course pushed enough to get the most out of their workout!
I am Claire Wellard, founder and principle instructor of Mamma's Fitness. I have over 12 years experience as a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer and it is my goal to help Mums like me, keep fit, stay healthy and most importantly, be happy.
Previously a Fashion Journalist by trade, in 2006 I decided to ditch my sassy heels, over-sized handbags and huge sunglasses for a comfy pair of trainers, sweatpants and a trusty water bottle. A complete change in career was daunting, but with such a huge passion for fitness, I decided to make my favourite pastime my job for life. I have never looked back!
After my first daughter was born I got straight back into exercising again and back working in my local gyms. However, on my travels I was approached by so many new Mums asking me to set up some local community classes rather than them having to pay for posh gym memberships and crèche facilities.
Principle Instructor & Owner
Our Principle Instructor, Claire Wellard is hugely passionate about Pre and Post Natal health and fitness and has dedicated her career to providing an outstanding service to Mums. She has 12 years of teaching experience and has mastered the art of ensuring each and every member of her class is working to their level, at their pace and is happy and comfortable but of course pushed enough to get the most out of their workout!
Claire has an extensive list of qualifications including YMCA level 2 Exercise to Music/Aerobics instructor, Level 3 Pilates Instructor, Level 3 Personal Trainer, Level 3 Ante/Postnatal exercise, Les Mills Body Pump, Les Mills Body Balance, YMCA Aqua Aerobics, Keiser advanced Cycle and First Aid at Work as well as being fully CRB checked and insured to include cover for babies and buggies.
Kelly has worked in the Fitness Industry for 17 years and has taught a range of classes - all helping women get fit, stay fit and get fitter. Since becoming a mum and experiencing, pregnancy and birthing 2 children she wanted to further her exercise knowledge in this area. She loves helping and guiding mums back to where they deserve to be, feeling strong and confident in movement again. Kelly teaches our Buggy Conditioning class on a Thursday morning.
Kelly's qualifications include YMCA Exercise to Music, Advanced Instructor to Personal Trainer Award Level 3, Active IQ Pre and Post Natal Programming Level 3, BTS Body Attack and RPM Instructor, REPS Registered and First Aid Qualified, Burrell Education Modern Postnatal Assessment and Exercise prescription.
